Weathered Letters

Went for a walk the other day to check out the railroad tracks that run four blocks from my house. I came back with some interesting pictures.

This is a close-up of identification numbers nailed to a linepole (otherwise known as a telegraph pole, even though they're not used for telegraphs any more). It has been said that when photographing in black-and-white, one captures the soul of the subject, and when I threw this through photoshop and put it in greyscale its impact just jumped out at me.
